This riverfront property was once part of the 18th century Battersea Plantation.
The foundation stones of Bannister's mill, built in 1732, can be found here, next to the south side of an ancient Indian fish way.
The dam, canal, and Cotton Mill house of the Battersea Manufacturing Co. were built in 1839.
The stone ruins blend in and enhance the natural beauty of the site.

View toward the river from the power canal. The stonework on both sides in the foreground held the gates that metered the water to the 2 water wheels that were located just this side of the 2 arches. Water returned to the river through the arches.
